HydraFacial & Dermaplaining

In today’s post, I’m going to be very vulnerable with you all – I am showing you my bare face with no makeup! Lately, my skin has been kind of crappy looking, to be honest! Ever since the whole mandated facemask thing, I now have some breakouts on my cheeks, which I never have before this. I also feel like my pores on my nose and chin clog more easily, which I also think from face masks. I’m also dealing with a little bit of redness, and just overall, my skin is looking dull. The last facial I had was over 5 months ago, so this is long overdue!

On Friday, I went over to Complexions Spa in Saratoga Springs to get dermaplaning and a hydra facial. This was my first time getting a spa treatment done at Complexions, and I was very impressed! Angel was my lovely esthetician, she was SO sweet and she did such a great job. I’ve had several hydra facials before, and  I LOVE them. They are perfect for all skin types, and my skin always ends up looking so glowy and healthy. But, I have never had dermaplaning before. Basically, dermaplaning is performed by using a surgical scalpel to remove the top layer of skin, and the top layer is usually where all the old dead skin lives. The result is that it makes your skin super smooth, radiant/glowy, and youthful-looking. This treatment also helps your daily skincare products penetrate your skin, which is a huge plus!

Dermaplaing Questions ??:

Q: What is dermaplaing?
A: Dermaplaing is when an esthetician uses a surgical scalpel to remove the top layer of skin, and the top layer is usually where all the old dead skin lives. The result is that it makes your skin super smooth, radiant, and youthful-looking.

Q: Will, your hair on your face, grow back thicker and darker?

A: No! That’s a myth

Q: Does it hurt?

A: In my opinion, it does not hurt at all (I’m a big baby when it comes to pain). But, I know it may sound scary to some because you’re putting a surgical razor near your face, but it’s totally fine.

Q: How often should I get dermapling done?

A: Every 4-8 weeks! This is based on personal preference and skin sensitivity. I recommend consulting with your esthetician to see what’s best for you and your skin. I have sensitive skin so every 6 or 8 weeks for me will work 🙂

Hydrafacial Questions ??:

Q: What is a Hydra Facial?

A: The Hydrafacial removes dead skin cells, blackheads, and impurities from your face, while simultaneously moisturizing and hydrating your skin!

Q: Is there any downtime?

A: No, you can resume normal life and activities after your hydra facial! I personally just try to stay away from makeup for a few days since your skin is so nice, dewy, and clear

Of course, I couldn’t leave without picking up some products to bring home! Angel recommended this 4 piece travel/trial size kit by Cosmedix. This is medical grade skincare, so you cant pick this up at a regular beauty supply shop or the drugstore. I’ll have to keep you guys posted on how this works for my skin and what my thoughts are! I have another facial with Angel in 6 weeks, and I’ll let you know how that one goes.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve ever had a hydra facial or dermaplaning done before and what your thoughts were on the results.
