Tips for Healthy Hair this New Year – 2021

Happy Friday! Today’s blog post is all about hair care – On  Instagram I asked you guys to DM me questions and I got quite a few good ones. Keep reading to find out all the best products and tools to keep your hair healthy

HOT TOOLS

I try to do as little heat on my hair as possible! I put heat on my hair once per week and I do a little touch up here and there. It’s very important to have good quality hair tools to maintain the health of your hair – sometimes if you cheap out on hot tools you can really end up damaging your hair in the long run (trust me I have made the mistake myself with cheap flatirons and blowdryers)

My absolute favorite blow dryer: I’m most excited to share this one with you guys because it really changed my hair game! I purchased the DryBar blow dryer a year ago and it’s amazing! When I lived in the city I used to go to the DryBar once per week and get a blowout, and honestly, I really miss it! This is the exact blow dryer the stylists used on my hair. Since quartine, I do a lot of my own blowouts at home. I find that the DryBar blow dryer gets really hot and distributes the heat evenly through my hair  – which is really important to get an even smooth look! If you didn’t want to splurge on the large blowdryer they do carry a smaller one called the Baby Buttercup which is a smaller travel-sized version (I own this one as well).

Favorite Straightener: I swear by this straightener – if you have long hair, curly hair, coarse hair this one is for you! I highly recommend the GHD Platinum – I’ve been using this guy for 4-5 years. The benefits of using this straightener are that it adds 20% more shine than traditional straighteners and causes 70% LESS breakage.

Favorite Curling Iron: My all-time favorite curling iron is THIS one with interchangeable barrels! My most used barrel is the 1inch

PRODUCTS

Favorite Shampoo & Conditioner: My stylist Alayne introduced me to ColorProof Shampoo and Color Proof Conditioner a year ago and I fell in love because it adds so much moisture to my hair! They are both sulfate-free and vegan

Best Hair Serum: I discovered this product in NYC about 3-4 years ago! It’s a lightweight serum by Oribe Gold Lust Serum

Leave-In Conditioner Mask: I love this leave-in mask by MilkShake! It’s very affordable, protects your hair from heat & UV rays, and leaves your hair feeling hydrated

Invisible Oil: This hair oil by Bumble and Bumble is literally invisible! It’s so lightweight, but it really does make your hair super soft and smooth

Deep Conditioning Mask: The deep conditioning mask by Briogeo has been a lifesaver for my hair! I use this mask 2 times a month and it always leaves my hair feeling super nourished. I usually buy it HERE

Heat Protectant: This one smells so good, detangles your hair, and of course, protects it from hot tools Prep Rally & Prime

Dry Shampoo: This is one of my favorite dry shampoos Detox Dry Shampoo

MISC THINGS

Pillow Case: My Slip Silk pillowcase has been one of the best hair investments I’ve ever made! It prevents bed head, it makes my blowouts last longer, it prevents tugging on my hair (which in turn helps with growth). If you don’t want to splurge you can find a more affordable product HERE

Shower Cap: I found this one HERE

My Favorite Scrunchies: These are my favorite silk scrunchies

MY STYLIST

I discovered Alayne and her salon Make Me Fab back in late 2016 when I was looking for someone to do my hair and makeup for my wedding! I saw all of her amazing reviews and articles and I knew from that moment on she would be the one to do my hair and makeup on my special day. Funny enough my normal stylist had just relocated and I also needed someone new to cut my hair, and since I trusted Alayne with my big day I knew I could trust to cut my hair (I’m very picky about who touches my hair)! I just saw her a few days ago for a fresh cut and blow-dry. I also want to mention that I sometimes go in and see Lilly and Kendra for blowouts and they are amazing stylists as well 🙂

Thank you to everyone who took the time to ask questions on Instagram – I hope you found today’s blog post helpful 🙂 If you look below under “Shop The Post” I have linked all products for you to browse and shop
